Arklow’s Flower Basket Scheme
The Flower Basket Scheme which was the initiative of the Arklow Town Team has been a great success with more than 170 basket supplied and fitted. The aim of the scheme was to enhance the image of Arklow from the Wexford Road to Ferrybank. Businesses on the outskirts got involved in the scheme by sponsoring baskets for unoccupied buildings and public areas of the town – these businesses include Arklow Bay Hotel, Arklow Marine Services, ASL, Leon Recycling and Rondo Foods Ltd. As part of the scheme Arklow Municipal District (AMD) has also installed 10 tiered planters around the town which has been planted up by AMD staff.
The Town Team would like to acknowledge the support given by Cappagh Nurseries who supplied the baskets; the AMD staff who erected the baskets; Arklow Tidy Towns and Arklow Jetting & Drain Maintenance who are looking after the baskets throughout the summer.
For more information on the scheme contact the Arklow Town Team via Arklow Municipal District at 0402 42700 or by email to Linda McDonald (lmcdonal@wicklowcoco.ie) or Deirdre Bentley (debentley@live.ie ).
