2017 Celtic Challenge
In 2016 the biennial Celtic Challenge race from Arklow to Arberystwyth was postponed due to unsuitable weather conditions. It has been rescheduled and will take place over the May bank holiday and the weather conditions are looking good for this year…
Arklow Rowing Club traditionally takes part in the Celtic Challenge which is the world’s longest rowing race but due to other competitions and commitments will not be there this year. However Co. Wicklow will be well represented by Vartry Rowing Club.
The teams will have a full briefing meeting at Arklow Sailing Club on Friday and are hoping to launch from the South Beach on Saturday at 2pm and 4pm accompanied by the support boats that will travel with them. It usually takes the teams up to 24 hours to complete the 90 nautical mile distance.
