christmas-1The Festival Committee has been working together since May to make the 2016 Festival bigger and better.  They have something planned for every weekend until 17th December.  Christmas lights will be switched on 26th November followed by a mini funfair in the carpark and a fireworks display.  Saturday 3rd December sees the arrival of Santa and a performance by the Arklow Pipe Band.  The Christmas Craft Fair and Food Market will be held on 11th December.

This year sees the introduction of a GOLDEN TICKET DRAW – the prize value of this draw is over €1,000.  The draw for this will take place on Saturday 17th December.

There will be free parking in Council owned car parks from Friday 2nd December 2016 up to Monday 2nd January 2017 inclusive.   Free parking on the street will be restricted to two hours from Friday 2nd December 2016 up to Monday 2nd January 2017 inclusive.

 

 

Arklow nominated for a Pride of Place Award!

Arklow Chamber and AMD joined many volunteers in presenting the town to the judges on 30th June last.

Well done to everyone who met with the panel and prepared the itinerary with us – let’s hope for the best!

Best Christmas Window Display Competitionchristmas-window

This competition is open to all businesses in the town from Templerainey to the Wexford Road, so whether you are a shop, hotel, hairdressers, restaurant, office or a café,  if you decorate your window for Christmas you are in the competition and have an opportunity to win 1st, 2nd or 3rd place.

The windows will be independently judged and the winners announced on Saturday 17th December 2016. 

Dressing windows for Christmas really helps to create a wonderful atmosphere in the town.

Accessing Finance for Your Small/Medium BusinessLocalEnterprise-374x200

The Local Enterprise Office Wicklow (LEO Wicklow) are running an ‘Accessing Finance for Your Small/Medium Business’ half-day Workshop on Tuesday 29th November.  If you haven’t yet attended one of these Workshops you are strongly encouraged to do so.  The cost is only €10 (includes tea/coffee & pastry).  The Workshop runs from 9.30am – 1.30pm in the beautiful Wicklow County Campus, Rathnew, Co Wicklow.

The November Workshop is being delivered by Niall Glynn, business consultant, loan application specialist and expert on the MicrofinanceIreland (MFI) loan scheme.  Even if you do not intend to make a funding application (loan, grant or private investment) soon, you will benefit hugely from the clarity of seeing how to structure your business plan for investment.

The Annual Christmas Craft Fair at Carysfort N.S, Arklow is to be held on Saturday, 6th December from 11am to 4pm. The event has over 40 local stall holders. The Christmas Craft Fair has been running for a number of years with growing attendance each year.

The Christmas fair is unique in that it promotes local cottage industries ranging from crafts, artisan products, seasonal giftware, toys, fashion, home décor, beauty products and jewelry as well as many more exciting giftware ideas to suit every pocket.

There will also be a coffee shop with homebaking, cakes and sandwiches. For the younger visitors there will be pottery making, face painting and if they have been really good this year they can visit Santa at his grotto.

Be sure not to miss the Carol singers and spicy apple drinks to get you into the festive spirit.

This is a great opportunity for people to see firsthand the fabulous local produce available to the area. A one stop destination for unique Christmas presents, ambience and even the chance to purchase your Christmas trees and wreaths.
