Arklow Christmas Festival
The Festival Committee has been working together since May to make the 2016 Festival bigger and better. New Christmas lighting for the Bridge and St. Mary’s Park will be erected this year. There will be free parking in the town from 2nd December up to and including 2nd January 2017. The aim is to increase footfall, create a Christmas atmosphere and give the retailers from the Wexford Road to Lower Main Street, Ferrybank and Bridgewater an additional boost during the pre-Christmas period.
Events will run each weekend between 26th November and the 17th December and will include switching on of the Christmas tree lights, fireworks display, Punch & Judy Show, arrival of Santa, Pipe Bank recital a live crib, Christmas jumper competition, best window display, Christmas craft fair & artisan food market, children’s art competition and much more.
This year sees the introduction of a GOLDEN TICKET DRAW – the prize value of this draw is over €1,000.
Launch of the Arklow Lifeboat 2017 Calendar
The official launch of the 2017 Arklow Lifeboat calendar took place at The Old Ship on Friday 4th November. This year Arklow Lifeboat team up with members of the Tommy Byrne Photographic Society, who have produced stunning pictures of the river, beach and harbour areas. The calendar includes information on highlights and fundraising events during 2017 – starting with “Hurry to the Curry” on Friday 27th January. The calendar is on sale now priced €5 and is available from the Arklow Lifeboat Shop, Kavanaghs (Wexford Road), Mobile Care & Computer Solutions, Power’s Souvenirs, Paul Doyle’s Newsagents, Its Fresh, Beat the Record, Asgard Lodge Nursing Home, Kustom Kidz and Burke’s (Lower Main Street. Santa Coming to Bridgewater
Arklow’s RNLI crew are making sure Santa arrives safely at Bridgewater on Sunday 20th November. Santa will be there to meet and greet children at noon and the centre is running a facebook competition to select the child who will be first to meet the man in red.
