 NEW VIDEO TO PROMOTE ARKLOW

Arklows attractiveness as a centre for business and tourism is highlighted in a new video launched last week by Wicklow County Council.  The video covers the Arklow Municipal District and features contributions from local representatives, business figures and others as well as aerial shots of the locality. The purpose of the “Arklow Municipal District – Making a Difference” project is to highlight the District as a business location and a tourist destination.

ARKLOW CHAMBER RAISES €1,270 FOR LOCAL GROUPS

20161014_122937_resizedAt the Chamber Ball on 16th September €1,270 was raised in the charity raffle.  Arklow Mental Health Group and Arklow Music & Arts will each receive a cheque for €635.  Pictured is Chamber President, Ann McGovern, presenting a cheque to Barbara Duffy, HSE Senior Clinical Psychologist.

The 7th annual Arklow Youth Mental Health Week was officially opened on Monday 10th October and the theme this year is “The Importance of Good Relationships for Positive Mental Health”.  Arklow Music & Arts group are fundraising to establish a Music & Arts Venue for Arklow.

 

 AGB SCOOP INTERMEDIATE FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

It was down to the wire and Arklow Geraldines Ballymoney scooped the football win of their dreams in the closing seconds of their Intermediate Football Championships final against Ballinacor.  The final minutes of Sundays match had supporters on the edge of their seats as Ballinacor went two points up after a penalty.  Cal Kelly was the hero of the day when during the final play he lashed the ball into the back of the net sparking scenes of pandemonium and joy on the Arklow side.

 THE ELDERS TO BRING LATEST TOUR TO ARKLOW

the-eldersWorld renowned musicians The Elders are about to make their 14th annual trip home to Ireland from their base in the USA.  On their Irish tour they will play in the Arklow Bay Hotel on Monday October 24th at 9pm. With special guests ‘The Moxie Strings’ where audiences are in for a real musical treat.  Tickets cost €10 and are available from Kustom Kids, The Harbour Bar, Paddy Kavanagh’s and the Arklow Bay Hotel.  All proceeds towards Nolan House, Rathdrum and Arklow Music and Arts.

 

 

GREENSHINE TO PERFORM IN ARKLOW 

greenshineThe popular Cork folk group Greenshine will play a concert at the Breffini on Main Street in Arklow on Wednesday 19th October at 8. 30pm.  They have been praised widely by the likes of Christy Moore and Sharon Shannon.  Playing support on the night will be local singer-song writer Gabby Brady who also has a new album on release.

Below is a map of Arklow Heritage Walks & Trails.  These walks involve continuous walking at a moderate pace and two of them are wheelchair accessible, the Kynoch’s Walk and the Town Walk.  This map is published by the Arklow Heritage/Nature Walks Development Co. Ltd in association with Arklow Municipal Council.
