Arklow Enterprise Town is taking place today and tomorrow in St. Mary’s College Arklow 

Friday the 30th of September 5pm – 8pm) and Saturday the 1st of October 2016 (11am – 2pm)

The Enterprise Town initiative seeks to work with local businesses to plan and deliver a range of activities that will support and generate business in the area.

The initiative also involves the wider community and the schools to ensure everyone can get involved and be part of the positive experience that is an Enterprise Town.

As part of Enterprise Town there will be an exhibition space for local businesses to meet new customers and interact with other local businesses on the Friday.

Saturday is Community and Sports exhibition with schools, clubs, societies, associations etc., from the locality, displaying at the event with entertainment being provided by local talent.  See below for final schedule for the two days of the event.

Congratulations to Arklow Tidy Towns

Congratulations to Sandra Hall and her team for their success in the recent Tidy Towns completion – pictured is Sandra receiving the Diversity Award at the awards ceremony.

The results of the annual Tidy Towns competition were announced recently and Arklow Tidy Towns Groups had much to celebrate.  They won a Bronze category award and also received a SuperValu Diversity Award.  Sandra Hall is the co-ordinator of the group which was recognised for their efforts to include all their community, on an inter-generational and inter-cultural basis in the work they do around Arklow to enhance.  Sandra said it was wonderful to achieve 300 points and the Diversity Award recognised everyone involved in the Arklow Tidy Towns.

Arklow Chamber would also like to congratulate all of the other South Wicklow Tidy Towns groups who increased their score this including Avoca, Aughrim, Ballycoog, Coolboy and Tinahely and Shillelagh who re-entered the contest after many years and achieve an mark of 216 points.

 

 

Arklow Municipal District Grants

Arklow Municipal District recently awarded grants to local Arklow groups from their Festival & Economic Development Fund.wicklow-co-co_  These grants recognise the work done by volunteers for the town.  Councillor Pat Kennedy, Cathaoirleach of AMD thanked fellow councillors for making available funding for these awards.  The following Arklow groups each received one of these grants.

Polish-Irish Educational Association

Grants were also awarded to Aughrim Tidy Towns; Avoca Tidy Towns & Community Courthouse; Rathdrum Tidy Towns and Parnell Christmas Festival.
