The awards will recognise local people & businesses and their achievements in the following categories:

  • Best New Start Up sponsored by Allied Irish Bank

For any business opened within the last 12 months

  • Best Established Business sponsored by Arklow Business Enterprise Centre

For established businesses who excel in any sector, small, medium or large

  • The Service Excellence Award sponsored by Elavon Merchant Services

To recognise those companies providing outstanding to their customers

  • The Young Achiever Award sponsored by Bank of Ireland

This award goes to a young person who has given service to the community through any field such as, entrepreneurial, sport, education, arts, culture or community service

  • Ambassador for Tourism Award sponsored by Arklow Bay Hotel

For any business providing tourism related services or a community group or individual who helps support or promote tourism in the area

  • The Employee of the Year Award Sponsored by Bridgewater Shopping

Any outstanding employee can be nominated by customers, co-workers or an employer

  • The Person of the Year Award Sponsored by Servier (Ireland) Industries Ltd

This award will recognise a person who, through their achievements, has made an outstanding contribution to the town or is an Ambassador for Arklow

 

Arklow Maritime Festival

This August bank holiday (July 29th to July 31st) we’re all down on the quayside and around town to continue the tradition of one of Irelands Longest Running Maritime Festivals.The Annual Festival has been rejuvenated over the last few years and is once again growing.

The big event is on Sunday with all kinds of family events down by the quayside. With displays of traditional Irish art, children’s entertainment, market stalls and exhibits by the lifeboats, emergency services and much more it will create a truly magical weekend for everyone.

Maritime Festival Weekend

This year the festival finishes up at the Arklow Bay Hotel with a real highlight, The Spotlight Showband are back together for a special night in aid of Arklow Lifeboat, so see you at the Arklow Bay Hotel.

This event is held primarily as a fundraising event for Arklow Lifeboat, through generous sponsorship from local businesses they are able to provide a lot of the events for free, so please support the local businesses who support Arklow Lifeboat.

Seabreeze Festival Magic

Arklow Seabreeze FestivalThis year’s Arklow Seabreeze Music and Arts Festival surpassed all expectations bringing out huge crowds for the entire festival creating a magical experience, which ended on Sunday night with a spectacular Fire Works Display on the River Bank Arklow. People were high in their praise for the very small committee of eight people who put on a festival to be proud of, with so many visitors, tourists, families and friends travelling home for the event. Not one bed space was available throughout the entire town of Arklow and surrounding areas, with tourists from USA, Germany, Spain and other towns and villages supporting all of the events and activities in a packed programme….. Friends of Philo

On Sunday 21st August from 8.30pm till 12.30am in Arklow Bay Hotel starts Friends of Philo Thin Lizzy Tribute night in aid of Arklow Lifeboat Station & the RNLI.

Tinn Lizzy from Norway will be featuring Sean O’Connor from The Lookalikes Dublin Snowblind from Germany.
Feel the Pinch from Arklow featuring Brian Meakin from Wicklow.

Tickets are €10 and will be on sale from first weekend in August at the Arklow Bay Hotel and Shavus Mens Barbers Main Street Arklow.

There will be also 40+ visitors from Norway and Germany supporting both bands.

Bradshaw’s Lane

In accordance with Section 38 of the Roads Traffic Act 1994, as amended, Arklow Municipal District will introduce a one way traffic system on  Bradshaw’s Lane, with entry from the Main Street.

This change will come into effect from Wednesday 3rd August 2016.

August Wedding Showcase

Arklow Bay Hotel will be hosting a wedding showcase on Monday 1st August 2016 from 2 pm to 5 pm. Come and view their newly refurbished civil ceremony suite, the grounds which will be set for a civil ceremony and the beautiful Bay Suite ballroom.

The bridal suite with panoramic views of the Arklow Bay will also be on show for you to view, the hotel will also have excellent offers available on the day for any weddings booked.
