THE CLOSING DATE FOR ACCEPTANCE OF NOMINATIONS IS FRIDAY 29TH JULY 2016.
We are delighted to announce that this year’s Arklow & District Chamber Ball and Awards Ceremony will be held on Friday 16th of September in the Arklow Bay Hotel. As usual the ball promises to be a wonderful night to celebrate all that is good about business in south County Wicklow. Both members and non-members are welcome to attend. The evening will commence with a drinks reception at 7.15 pm with Dinner served at 8.15pm followed by the presentation of awards.
The awards will recognise local people & businesses and their achievements in the following categories:
- Best New Start Up
For any business opened within the last 12 months
- Best Established Business
For established businesses who excel in any sector, small, medium or large
- The Service Excellence Award
To recognise those companies providing outstanding to their customers
- The Young Achiever Award
This award goes to a young person who has given service to the community through any field such as, entrepreneurial, sport, education, arts, culture or community service
- Ambassador for Tourism Award
For any business providing tourism related services or a community group or individual who helps support or promote tourism in the area
- The Employee of the Year Award
Any outstanding employee can be nominated by customers, co-workers or an employer
- The Person of the Year Award
This award will recognise a person who, through their achievements, has made an outstanding contribution to the town or is an Ambassador for Arklow
Music in the Garden
Marie and Roy Dempsey welcome you to their annual Music in the Garden at Monument Lane on Sunday 26th June from 1 pm to 5 pm.
The entertainment will include:

Arklow Municipal District Facebook page
A Facebook page has now been set up for Arklow Municipal District; the aim of this page is to promote the positive projects being undertaken by the Council throughout the District.
It will also be used for disseminating important notices to the public.

If you have a Facebook page it would be appreciated by AMD if you would like and share the Arklow Municipal District page in order that they can gather a large customer (fan) base.
Information Evening for Part Time Courses
The open evening for IT Carlow in the Wicklow County Campus is taking place on Monday 20th June from 6 pm to 8 pm. Courses include: Postgraduate, PR & Media, Business, Engineering and Humanities. FREE Springboard courses also available.

2016 Arklow Seabreeze Music & Arts Festival
The dates of this year’s Arklow Seabreeze Music and Arts Festival are Friday 15th – Sunday 17th July (both dates inclusive).
“Arklow’s Got Talent”
Arklow Seabreeze Festival are looking at the idea of running an “Arklow’s Got Talent” where open auditions would be held for any type of act, group or individual. Open to all it is anticipated that they could have musicians, dancers, magicians, story tellers, comedians, choirs, rock bands, trad bands and so on. Auditions would take place towards end of June on one day and run similar to X Factor, where all would appear before a panel of adjudicators and the final selection would be announced shortly afterwards.
From all the acts that would enter, this would be narrowed down to 20 acts who would all get the opportunity to appear on stage at this year’s festival, thus showcasing the best of what Arklow has in talent.
If interested please let the Arklow Seabreeze Festival know as soon as possible, open to all ages and from Arklow and surrounding areas. All welcome.
Bridgewater Seabreeze Festival Princess Night
This year’s Bridgewater Seabreeze Festival Princess Night will take place on Saturday 2nd July in the Arklow Bay Hotel, where the lucky girl will walk away with it a host of prizes. If you are interested in taking part please makes sure to pick up an entry from Tina at reception in The Arklow Bay Hotel. Places are limited, so hurry.
Swinging Pubs competition
Who will be Swinging Pubs Champion for 2016? This year’s Swinging Pubs competition will run from Monday 4th July – Thursday 14th July. Pubs interested in taking part please contact Donal Molloy or visit the Arklow Seabreeze Music and Arts Festival Facebook page. Once entry fee is paid you can select night you are interested, so first come first served.

Road Race
A new addition to this year’s Arklow Seabreeze Music and Arts Festival is an 8K and 4K Road Race which will take place on Sunday 17th July in conjunction with gorun.ie. It will feature two courses to suit all types of runners and walkers. Both will start and finish on the Main Street, Arklow.
Soap Box Derby
Start getting your machines ready for our Soap Box Derby which takes place during the Arklow Seabreeze Music & Arts Festival 2016 on Sunday 17th July, Main Street, Arklow, Co. Wicklow.

Beach Awareness 2016
As part of Wicklow County Council Blue Flag Beach Awareness/Education programme they have organised a scavenger & treasure hunt and other activities during July and August.
Some of the activities below have been funded by Wicklow County Council through the Local Agenda 21 Environment Partnership Grant.
