Arklow 1916 Centenary Concert

Arklow 1916 Centenary Concert will take place at Sts. Mary and Peter’s Church on Friday 6th May at 19.16 pm. The Concert is organised by Arklow Music and Arts and all proceeds will go towards a performance space and theatre venue for the wealth of talent that exists in the town and surrounding areas. Tickets are €15 each and there is also an option to purchase two tickets for €35 and have your name in the programme.

Tickets will be on sale today (Friday 29th April) in Bridgewater from 12 – 2.30 pm and on Monday (2nd May) from 12 – 6 pm. 10 tickets are also available from John Swan.

€10,000 search for Wicklow’s Brightest start-up launches

To celebrate the 21st anniversary year, Wicklow Enterprise Park is offering a major prize for one outstanding new business, currently operating in the County, and which opened in Wicklow within the last six years.  The competition is open to any individual or group, who have started an independent new business from scratch and is still in operation in Co. Wicklow (business start date no earlier than January 1st 2010).

The overall winner will receive a cheque for €5,000 from Wicklow Enterprise Park as well as a €5,000 advertising package with East Coast FM.

Traffic calming measures in Arklow

In accordance with Section 38 of the Roads Traffic Act 1994, as amended, Arklow Municipal District propose to  introduce the following traffic calming measures in Arklow Town:-

  • Make Bradshaw’s Lane one way – with entry from the Main Street.
  • Change the road markings on Dunne’s Lane to incorporate parking spaces and a loading bay. 

A map showing the proposed changes will be available for inspection at the Arklow Municipal District Offices commencing Monday 25th April 2016 up to and including Tuesday 7th June 2016 during normal office hours.

Submissions and observations in relation to the above proposals may be made in writing to the undersigned, on or before Tuesday 7th June 2016.

County Wicklow Partnership are organising a 6 weeks Course on Yoga and Relaxation in the Willow Grove Community Building, Inbhear Mor Park. The yoga excercises will be accessible to all abilities. Arklow Community Games 2016 Area Athletics competitions

The Arklow Community Games 2016 Area Athletics competitions will take place on the Arklow Athletic Track, North Beach on next Saturday 30th April at 3.30p.m.

Open to girls and boys over six and under the age specified on July 31st 2016

Entry fee is €5. Competitors please register your name, address, date of birth and home telephone number with Michael Kenny or Sadie O’Reilly from 3.15p.m.

  • Under  8 over  6  60m  80m  mixed relay,Gym Club
  • Under 10 over  8 100m 200m  mixed relay,
  • Under 12 over 10 100m 600m mixed relay,
  • Under 14 over 12 100m 800m mixed relay,
  • Under 16 over 14 100m 200m mixed relay,

Please note competitors may enter only one event plus relay.

Please note spikes are only permitted at under 14 and 16 years.
