Laffins Barber shop is celebrating 10 years in business

Wednesday 6 April 2016 will mark one full decade since Laffins Barber Shop opened for business here in Arklow. Laffins Barber Shop would like to invite everyone to join them in raising a toast to ten incredible years! Everyone is invited to drop by anytime on 6 April 2016 to say hello and to celebrate the anniversary. There will be lots of gifts, vouchers and surprises on that special day.  The event starts at 8 am.

New Kynoch book has been launched

Christopher Power has launched his new Kynoch Book on Thursday 31st March in Arus Lorcain in Arklow. Christopher book, Arklow’s Industrial Revolution – The Kynochs’ Munitions Works 1895 – 1920 is available in Arklow, Gorey and Wicklow. Kynochs factory – one of the largest industrial complexes in Ireland employed over 3,000 people – men and women and produced the explosive mixture Nitro Gliceryne.

Arklow repair centres to join forces

Arklow’s two longest established repair centres Mobile Care & Arklow Computer Solutions (Smart Cartridge) are joining forces. After twelve years as colleagues in business, the two are going to be operating under the one roof, as of April 1st Mobile care will be operating out of Arklow Computer Solutions 29 upper main street Arklow, the store at the roundabout will be closed. All the current services will now be offered in both Arklow and Gorey at the Computer Solutions stores. You can now get all your Electronic, I.T and Telecommunications services & solutions taken care of in the one store.

Quiz Night in aid of Arklow RNLI

The RNLI continue their fundraising and are holding a Quiz Night at The Old Ship on Friday 15th April at 8.30 pm. Please come and support them.

The RNLI charity saves lives at sea. Its volunteers provide a 24-hour search and rescue service around the Ireland and the UK. The RNLI operates over 230 lifeboat stations with 44 in Ireland. Since the RNLI was founded in 1824 its lifeboat crews and lifeguards have saved over 137,000 lives.

65 Roses Day

cfirelandAs part of Cystic Fibrosis National Awarness Week from 11th to 17th April, volunteers will be selling purple roses and other 65 Roses memorabilia in the Bridgewater Centre to raise funds for cystic fibrosis services. The hope is to raise €65,000 nationally to go towards patient support grants for transplant assessment, fertility treatment and counselling, as well as research and new healthcare facilities. All Ireland Band Championship

Arklow Shipping Silver Band is preparing to travel to Navan to take part in the All Ireland Band Championship on Sunday 3rd April. The championships will take place in the Solstice Arts Centre in the town. Arklow Shipping Silver Band will perform The Mermaid of Zennor by Philip Harper and James MacCafferty will be conducting the band for this competition.
