St. Colmcille’s Pipe Band will perform again this year

St. Colmcille’s Pipe Band, Arklow, will hold their annual collection again this year on Christmas Eve. The collection has become a bit of a tradition in the town at this stage having taken place on the same date now for over 25 years.

The band members will perform at Tesco at 2pm before making their way to Pettits on the Wexford Road where they will meet Santa and his crew at 3pm and then parade with Santa along Wexford Road, Main Street and finish on Lower Main Street.

As usual transport for Santa on the day will be provided by Brendan Brady. During the evening members of the band will perform in all of the local pubs and make their collection as they proceed.

This is the only public collection that the band makes during the year and is a vital fundraiser for keeping the band going throughout the following year. The people of Arklow and surrounding areas have always been very generous towards this collection for the band and band members would like to extend their sincere thanks to all for their continued support.

Cruinniú – Carols by Candlelight

This year Cruinniú is hosting their concert ‘Carols by Candlelight’ in aid of Arklow Community Action Resource Centre. To concentrate on the needs of those people in the community who feel isolated, and vulnerable and in need of a space to go where nobody would judge them, the Centre moved to their centre at Crosscare almost four years ago with no funding and they are still going. Arklow Community Action Resource Centre would like to thank all the generous community and also Emer and all at Cruinniú. They will be there on the evening with bells on, and hope the whole community will support it.
