We all in Arklow & District Chamber sympathise with the people of France and support the families and friends of those murdered and injured, as they enjoyed living and working in the beautiful city of Paris. A book of condolences has been opened in the Arklow Munical District office for anyone who wishes to express their sympathy with us.

Improvement works to Bridge Street Junction
It is now envisaged that these works will commence on Monday 23rd November with an end date of the 19th January 2016. For the Christmas period 11th December 2015 to the 4th January 2016 the contractor will need to have all traffic management removed from the site. All the underground work will be carried out before the Christmas period and the overground (footpaths and surfacing) after the Christmas period. This project will consist of night time work only.
The Members did ask about the possibility of either:
- Instructing the contractor to suspend works on the 4th December 2015 as opposed to the 11th December 2015 for the Christmas period.
or
- Delaying the start date of the works until 4th January 2016 .
However, neither option is possible as there may be entitlement for additional costs to the contractor if we instructed either change.
WCC appreciate the concerns raised and have been trying to schedule these works to avoid the summer tourist season, water services works and to avoid disruption to traffic in the daytime so hopefully the members and the public will be able to bear with us during the construction of this scheme.
