Arklow Municipal District would like to invite business owners and interested parties to a meeting to discuss ideas on the development of a Christmas Festival for Arklow Town i.e. Ongoing cost of Christmas Lights; Christmas Parking Incentives;     Sponsorship of a Festival; Christmas Market; Carol Service, etc.  The meeting will take place on Monday 6th July at 6.30pm in the Arklow Municipal District Offices, Avoca River House, North Quay, Arklow.  Written suggestions can also be forwarded to Linda McDonald, District Administrator, Arklow Municipal District, Avoca River House, North Quay, Arklow, Co. Wicklow or via e-mail lmcdonal@wicklowcoco.ie by Monday 6th July 2015.

 

Kirsten Einarsdottir from Iceland visited Arklow on Monday 22nd June.  She was in Co. Wicklow with a group of journalists as part of a fact-finding mission, visiting various places in the county and saw first-hand what is on offer to visitors.  Kirsten can be contacted at kristin@irlandsferdir.com .

 

On Thursday evening the Seabreeze Festival launched this year’s event in Murphy’s Bar on the Main Street.  The launch included the new festival website and the 2015 programme.  It was an opportunity to meet some of this year’s Bridgewater Seabreeze Princess Competition.

 

Congratulations to members of the Arklow Rowing Club.  A crew from Arklow won the Sportsman’s Trophy for their efforts in the Isle of Scilly event  while the Junior Men’s Crew won the Cork Ocean to City event.

 

There were great celebrations in St. Joseph’s National School on Thursday for the official raising of the Active Schools Flag. Well done to pupils, teachers, parents and outside agencies all worked together to achieve this goal.
