“Best Musical Window Display” competition
The Arklow Music Festival will take place from Saturday the 2nd – Sunday the 10th of March 2019.
Now in its 50th year, the festival is a celebration of both Arts & Music and is renowned as one of the biggest competitive music events in the country, attracting thousands of visitors to the town, showcasing a wealth of talent from every county in Ireland.
In conjunction with the annual festival, the Arklow & District Chamber of Commerce are again delighted to sponsor the award for the “Best Musical Window Display” competition.
All local traders are encouraged to support Arklow Music Festival by decorating and displaying their windows with a musical theme.
The winner will be announced at the prize giving concert on Sunday the 10th of March and will be presented with the prestigious “Best Musical Window Display” Cup.

Votes for Women: The Irish Suffrage Movement
Arklow Library is delighted to welcome Sinéad Dunne (Irish History MA Student, Maynooth University) to give a talk to our younger borrowers about the Irish Suffragette Movement. This talk will cover a basic timeline of events and the major figures involved. The talk will be followed by a themed arts and crafts session. The event is free, but booking is essential.

Avonmore M.S. Production of “9 to 5”
Avonmore Musical are delighted and excited to be staging the Dolly Parton Musical “9 to 5” for their 40th Anniversary production this year. The show will run from 23rd – 27th April, 2019 and promises to be a great fun filled show with a very witty script and great music, book is by Patricia Resnick and Music and Lyrics by Dolly Parton.
“9 to 5” is about three unlikely friends take control of their office and learn there is nothing they can’t do, even in a man’s world. Set in the late 1970s, this hilarious story of friendship and revenge in the Rolodex era is outrageous, thought-provoking and even a little romantic. Pushed to the boiling point, three female coworkers concoct a plan to get even with the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot they call their boss. In a hilarious turn of events, Violet, Judy and Doralee live out their wildest fantasy – giving their boss the boot! While Hart remains “otherwise engaged,” the women give their workplace a dream makeover, taking control of the company that had always kept them down. Hey, a girl can scheme, can’t she? This high-energy show has a jubilant score and easily relatable characters.

Arklow Bay Wedding Fair
On Saturday 13th & Sunday 14th April from 2pm until 5pm each day, we will be hosting a Spring Wedding Fair, we invite you to come and view our civil ceremony suite our amazing outdoor grounds which is ideal for an outdoor civil ceremony and our completely refurbished Bay Suite Ballroom will have an elegant new look coupled with fresh bespoke centrepieces and a luxurious décor.
The Arklow Bay Hotel, Wicklow’s finest wedding venue will be running the wedding fair from 2pm each day.
Our bridal suite with panoramic views of the Arklow Bay will also be on show for you to view; we will also have excellent offers available on the day for any weddings booked. Along with all of this our wedding team will be on hand to with all their expertise to answer any of your questions and help guide you on your way.
