Arklow Christmas Festival2Arklow Christmas Festival will be packed full of events for the Christmas Season. Starting with the switching on of the Lights and ending with the carol service in St Mary & Peters, we will be supporting and promoting all types of fun family events.

Every weekend in December, Arklows streets will be filled with live entertainment. Expect to see buskers and choirs, acting and puppets and much more.christmas-sweets-001

This year for the first time, Arklow will be holding a Christmas market. The market will take place on Sunday 13th of December. Its exact location in Arklow has yet to be confirmed.

WW1 Memorial Park

WW1-2The WW1 Memorial Park at Woodenbridge has been nominated for an Irish Landscaping Institute Award. This is decided by public vote and this is the only place in Wicklow nominated so we are asking you to support it. To vote simply open the link below and click on the “green thumb” under the picture of the park, you can learn more about the design by clicking on the picture.  Voting is open until October 14th 2015 and the winner will be announced at the ILI Landscape Awards Prize-giving ceremony on October 15th at the Irish Architectural Archive. http://www.irishlandscapeinstitute.com/awards/

The Club is also looking for an enthusiastic basketball trainer to coach the men’s team this season. Loaves & FishesArklow community service The Loaves and Fishes Café is celebrating its first anniversary with a gala concert on Thursday 15th October at the Arklow Bay Hotel. The Loaves & Fishes Cafe operates every Tuesday afternoon from 4.30 to 6.30 at The Centre, 1A Wexford Road and serves a free home cooked meal to anyone who wants it, no questions. Featuring a wealth of local performers, including: Revival Gospel Choir, Small Town Crisis, Terry Cantwell, St Mary’s College, Mo Chroí, Cobra Gymnastics, Laura’s Dance Fitness, Majorettes Militare, Breda O’Connor School of Dance, Innovations Theatre School, Bernard Fox and more, all hosted by our own Rhoda Doyle Yeomans!

Congratulations to Ross Lawless of CALT Dynamics in Arklow who won an investment of €10,000 for New Best Idea.

Three young businessmen (Ross Lawless, Michael Carney and James Keogh) have won a total investment of €50,000 through the Local Enterprise Office Wicklow as part of Ireland’s Best Young Entrepreneur competition. The competition is aimed at aspiring entrepreneurs between the ages of 18 and 30 and the Wicklow awards ceremony was held at Wicklow County Campus, Rathnew. Bryan Doyle, Chief Executive of Wicklow County Council, addressed the awards ceremony and said the local authority would make every effort to support businesses in the county.
