Arklow Enterprise Town

The Arklow Enterprise town event is taking place in Glenart College, Coolgreaney Road, Arklow on Saturday, October 7th from 11am until 3pm.  Enterprise Town is a free event and represents a fantastic opportunity to showcase local businesses, clubs and societies as well as local schools to potential new customers or new members.

Demand to participate in Arklow Enterprise Town is high and, since the launch, over 60 local organisations have registered to take part. The event is completely free for both exhibitors and attendees. For attendees, there will be lots of entertainment for all ages, kids’ activities, spot prizes and special guests.

Cultural Night 2017 in Arklow – Friday 22nd September

Solace Studio Pottery & Place Studio (FREE) will be hosting a joint open night from 7pm – 10pm this Friday the 22nd, in the Meehans Levins building at Condrens Lane, Arklow.

An exhibition will be displayed of ceramic wall art, jewellery, fine art and print making, woodcraft & metalcraft all of which have been created by local artists & craftspeople.

Arklow Library (FREE)

Arklow Library will switch on Cultural Night 2017 with a packed programme of events this Friday 2nnd September

  • Arklow Library will be hosting a workshop at 3pm & 4pm, which will be led by Robbie from Bodhran Buzz. The workshop will enable people of all ages from 7+ to learn the basics of how to play a Bohdran.

  • In addition Arklow Library will also be hosting another event from 6pm – 6.45pm where local author Anthony Cannon whose first novel Boom Townwill read extracts. The book is based on the remarkable true story of the Kynoch factory, when the unfortunate disaster of 21st of September struck.

  • The second author Lisa Harding who wrote “Harvesting”which is the story of two girls Sammy and Nico, one from Dublin and the other from Moldova, whose lives collide in this treacherous world.

Lisa will talk about how she came to research and write the book and will read extracts.

  • Women of the World an Arklow based intercultural group will be displaying their wonderful quilt in the Community Room in Arklow Library. Here the women will talk about inspirational stories that inspired the quilt.

Cancer Support Opening

The official opening in tandem with the first anniversary of the new Arklow Cancer Support Group offices on St Marys Road will take place on Saturday September 23rd.

All are very welcome to attend the event which will run from 11am – 3pm. The official ribbon cutting will be done by special guest Claire Darmody from News Talk.

 

 

A Night for Ray

From 8.30pm this Friday 22nd September, Christies Bar will host a night of music in memory of popular local man Raymond Gaffney.

Music will include” Those Lazy Babies”,” Black Cherry” & Brian Lawlor along with other guests, promising a great night of music & entertainment.

Tickets cost €10 and are available from Raymond Gaffney & Sons estate agents, Christy’s and also available at the door.

An exhibition showcasing the work of talented Wicklow Artists takes place in Arklow Visual Arts Gallery from September 26th – October 13th with the opening night on Tuesday 26th 6pm – 8pm.

Market

 The Arklow weekly Farmers market takes place in the Pigeon Racing Hall, Castlepark, Arklow every Saturday from 10.30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Home baked goods as well as a selection fruit and vegetables will be on sale.

New stall holders are always welcome.
