Registration can be completed via popupraces.ie or on the day form 8am at no 8 St Marys Road. The cost is 15 per adult and €5 per child. The first 150 people to register will receive a free T-Shirt.

Entries are currently being accepted by the committee and all participants must be over 18 years of age by 1st July to be eligible. The Bridgewater S.C. have once come on board to sponsor this competition and a specially commissioned Tiara hand made by John Swan jewelers will go to this year’s winner.

This year marks the 70th Anniversary of Arklow Town Football Club. To celebrate, the club will host a Black-Tie Ball in the Arklow Bay Hotel on Saturday June 23rd. Tickets are €25 each and available to purchase through the Arklow Bay Hotel and the Football Club.

From 400 people at the first Darkness into Light in 2009 to 180,000 people last year, DIL has become a movement in more ways than one across Ireland and all over the world.

May Day Appeal

The RNLIs May Day event began yesterday the 1st May, and will run for the rest of the month, with fundraising taking place around Arklow and across the nation.

The RNLI can be supported by purchasing crew pin badges, hosting the own fundraising events or indeed supporting local events including the annual 5k/10k fun run which takes place this Sunday May 6th from Coral Leisure @ 11am.

The annual Arklow Music Festival got off to a great start last Sunday with many competitions taking place at various venues around the town.

Arklow & District Chamber are delighted to sponsor the award for the “Best Musical Window Display” in conjunction with the annual Arklow Music Festival. All local traders are continuously supportive of the Arklow Music Festival by decorating and displaying their windows with a musical theme.

The winner will be announced at the prize giving concert on Sunday the 29th of April, in St Mary’s Hall and will receive the “Best Musical Window Display Cup”.

Inver ladies Choir will host an afternoon tea event on Saturday April 14 at 3.30pm in the Arklow Geraldines Ballymoney GAA complex on the Beach Road, Arklow.

Between The Ropes comes to Arklow Bay Hotel on Saturday 7th April @ 8pm.

Admission is only €10.

There will be 12-14 fights on the card and a raffle on the night. The pairings will be decided after weigh-ins this Saturday. It promises to be a great night’s entertainment, all under the watchful eye of one of Arklow’s most experienced fighters Fergal Redmond and Box Fit Arklow.

The 80’s night fundraiser in aid of Mary Hickey’s Lap of the Map has been rescheduled for March 24th from 8pm till late. Entry is €10 on the night. Fantastic prizes have been provided by local businesses for the raffle on the night.

St Patrick’s Day Parade

 

The Arklow Town St Patrick’s Day Parade Committee have announced that the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade will take place at the earlier time of 2pm on Saturday the 17th March.

This year’s Grand Marshall is Majella Myler of Arklow Sea Scouts and she will lead a diverse range of floats, decorated vehicles and marching groups through the centre of Arklow Town.

Arklow Chamber of Commerce will present the “Chamber of Commerce Cup” for the Best Float for this years parade.

Fiver Friday Promotion

 

The “Fiver Friday” promotion in conjunction Joe Duffy’s LiveLine Show will be live from Arklow this Friday the 16th of March. The RTE presenter will be outside Arklow Courthouse broadcasting as part of his Nationwide Tour.

Bridgewater Shopping Centre Craft Fair

The Arklow Craft Fair takes place in the Bridgewater Shopping Centre from 12 noon to 6pm on the first Sunday of every month.

Stalls will display an array of arts, crafts & giftware all of which have been created by local craftspeople and artists.

 

 

Black Tie Ball

This year marks the 70th Anniversary of Arklow Town Football Club. To celebrate, the club will host a Black-Tie Ball in the Arklow Bay Hotel on Saturday June 23rd. Further details will follow.

 

 

 

 Story Time

 

Starbucks have teamed up with Eason’s to provide children with a free story time every Saturday at 11am. From now until the end of the year, bring children to the Starbucks kids’ corner for them to enjoy the story of the week!

St Patrick’s Day Parade

The Arklow Town St Patrick’s Day Parade Committee have announced that the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade will take place at the earlier time of 2pm on Saturday the 17th March.

This year’s parade will have a fun theme for floats “Bring your favourite book to life”. For anyone who wishes to participate in the parade, please complete and return the form to any of the committee members:

International Women’s Day

An International Womens Day lunch celebrating local Arklow woman Kate Tyrrell, will take place in the Arklow Bay Hotel on Thursday the 8th March 12:30pm – 2:30pm.

Tickets are €20 and are available to buy from the Arklow Bay Hotel, Kustom Kids & Mcmullans.

This event is being supported by the Arklow Town Team.

Cookery Demo

The Arklow Rugby Club will host a cookery evening with well-known Irish Chef, Kevin Dundon in the Arklow Bay Hotel on Friday March 23rd.

Reading Initiative Arklow Library

This pilot project will run until March 22nd with 6th class students from St Johns and 1st year students from Glenart College reading the same book, completing quizzes, and meeting the author

Lip Sync Fundraiser

Arklow United will host the towns first Lip Sync Fundraiser on Saturday October 13th in the Arklow Bay Hotel. This marks the clubs 40th Anniversary & will raise funds for local charities and for development of the Arklow United football club.

Participants are now being sought and can register through the Arklow United Lip Sync Facebook page. A selection process will take place at a later date.

 Arklow Music Festival

 

Now in its 49th year, Arklow Music Festival will take place in a variety of venues across the town from Saturday March 3rd till Sunday, March 11th.

Entries for the festival are now open and are available online http://arklowmusicfestival.com/. These must be submitted to the festival office no later than Tuesday January 16th.
