Avonmore M.S.  Production of “9 to 5”

Avonmore Musical are delighted and excited to be staging the Dolly Parton Musical “9 to 5” for their 40th Anniversary production this year. The show will run from 23rd – 27th April, 2019 and promises to be a great fun filled show with a very witty script and great music, book is by Patricia Resnick and Music and Lyrics by Dolly Parton.

“9 to 5” is about three unlikely friends take control of their office and learn there is nothing they can’t do, even in a man’s world. Set in the late 1970s, this hilarious story of friendship and revenge in the Rolodex era is outrageous, thought-provoking and even a little romantic. Pushed to the boiling point, three female coworkers concoct a plan to get even with the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot they call their boss. In a hilarious turn of events, Violet, Judy and Doralee live out their wildest fantasy – giving their boss the boot! While Hart remains “otherwise engaged,” the women give their workplace a dream makeover, taking control of the company that had always kept them down. Hey, a girl can scheme, can’t she? This high-energy show has a jubilant score and easily relatable characters.

Looking forward to seeing many new faces and many of our friends down the years to join us for the wonderfully uplifting show and a celebration of 40 years of Avonmore Musical Society.

Arklow Halloween Festival Parade

This year it is hoped to make the Halloween night festivities (Wednesday, 31st October) EVEN BETTER by having a larger street parade, staged event and firework display!

People of all ages are encouraged to take part in the festivities on the night and to get into the Halloween spirit – no pun intended! – and wear some kind of fancy dress.

Entry is now open for larger organisations such as local community, sports groups and schools to enter fancy dress groups into the street parade. Business owners are encouraged to decorate their premises as the fantastic displays in the shop windows and the free-standing sculptures around town really contribute to the holiday atmosphere.

Arklow Municipal District is running a competition for the most original and exciting displays as a way of recognising people’s efforts, community spirit and creativity.

If any community or sports groups are interested in getting involved in the parade, or for businesses to register their window displays, please email to ArklowMD@wicklowcoco.ie or phone 0402 42700.

A full programme of festival events has been released and is now available through the Libraries, Arklow MD office. It can be also viewed here and on facebook @ArklowMD or via the link below.

Energy Efficiency for Your Business

The Arklow & District Chamber of Commerce are delighted to invite you to the following FREE Breakfast Event which will focus on “Energy Efficiency for Your Business”.  With growing concerns surrounding global warming and the ever increasing demand for energy, learning how to use energy efficiently will have a number of benefits for your business.

The Breakfast event will be delivered by Glen Fuel Services, in conjunction with Glenergy & Pinergy who will provide excellent advice on how your business can adapt a better approach to energy management and save your business money.

We look forward to seeing you bright and early at 7.45am on Thursday 25th of October for what promises to be a very interesting and informative morning.

Please contact the Chamber office at chamber@arklow.ie or 0402 26909 to confirm your attendance.

Arklow RFC Club Day – 21st October 2018

We are hosting this event for our club members and local community supporters to show our appreciation for all the support you have given us so far throughout this year and previous years.

Arklow senior men will take on Athy, a league rival, at home at 3pm. We invite you to come to the club from 1.30pm for fun and festivities.

There will be a presentation of the new Adidas Gear that has been sponsored by our generous first team sponsors before kick-off and will hopefully be christened with a dominant win over Athy.

Shane Byrne will also be presenting a few of his many international rugby jerseys to the club which will be proudly hung on our walls to inspire future generations of Arklow rugby players on what can be achieved with hard work and dedication.

To ensure everyone can enjoy the day’s celebrations a bus has been organised which will leave from the back of Christy’s at 1pm and will return to Christy’s after Shane Byrne’s  presentation. One of our Jersey sponsors Martin Lynch has agreed to only charge €5 for the return trip.

To keep the kids entertained, weather permitting a bouncy castle will be set up for their entertainment. We are expecting a very good crowd and that this will be the first of many celebrations the club will have over the coming season.

If you can, please RSVP – secretaryarklowrfc@gmail.com so we can get an idea of the numbers expected out, that would be greatly appreciated.
