Arklow Halloween Festival Parade

Plans for the second Arklow Halloween Festival are underway. Arklow Municipal District has begun work on the event following the huge success of the inaugural festival. This year it is hoped to make the Halloween night festivities (Wednesday, 31st October) even better by having a larger street parade, staged event and firework display. Entry is now open for expressions of interest from larger organizations such as local community, sports groups and schools to enter fancy dress groups into the street parade.

Business owners are encouraged to decorate their premises as the fantastic displays in the shop windows and the free-standing sculptures around town really contribute to the holiday atmosphere. The Arklow Municipal District are running a competition for the most original and exciting displays as a way of recognizing people’s efforts, community spirit and creativity. For more information, please email or phone 0402 42700. (A full program of festival events will be released in early October.

The Bank of Ireland National Enterprise Town Awards 2018

The 2018 Bank of Ireland National Enterprise Town Awards is now in its third year. The competition promotes enterprise by bringing business and community groups together, in towns and villages across Ireland, to showcase the spirit of enterprise in their local area. Arklow was nominated for the competition in the population category greater than 10,000. This was a fantastic opportunity for the Arklow Town Team to highlight recent and forthcoming initiatives for enterprise within the town.

During the visit to Arklow on the 25th of September, three judges met with representatives from the business and community sectors of the town and received a presentation highlighting the positive attributes of the area. Winners will be announced at a gala awards ceremony taking place at The Lyrath Hotel, Kilkenny on November 28, 2018.
